Seamwork Tacara in yellow sweatshirting
I haven’t sewn anything yet in 2019, but I still have 2018 makes that I haven’t blogged yet, so thats ok. This is the Seamwork Tacara and I LOVE it!
I’ve not been a fan of seamwork for wile now, but this is great and accurately matches their mission in that it’s simple to sew, but unlike some others, doesn’t feel like corners have been cut. It’s a good balance between oversized and fitted, I love the oversized look but I’m also not small, so proper oversized can look pretty rubbish on me.
And it is SOOO comfortable, which is in no small part due to the fabric, which is some lovey speckled sweatshirting from the fabric godmother. It’s fleecey inside! The fabric helped with the sewing too. I don’t tend to sew with knits, I don’t own an overlocker (and have no desire to get one either), and my sewing machine is pretty basic, and I’ve had prioblems with things stretching out of place in the past. But this fabric actually has quite a low stretch percentage, so it held its shape well, and I managed a neckband I’m 100% happy with, which is a first.
I can’t remember what size I made, either an M or an L, but I would probably size up round the arms next time as the sleeves are just a teensy bit snug on the lower arms. Not enough to be uncomfortable, but enough to notice. It’s presumably the low stretch percentage. On top of this, the upper arms are fitted too, which they aren’t supposed to be which is due the fact that I have ginormous arms – even a small bit of arm exercise makes my biceps go massive, and if I stop it turns to fat.
But overall, I am DELIGHTED with this. I am planning another, if I can get my sewjo back, which has sadly deserted me for the moment. But I’m knitting loads so that’s good!
