Paprika Patterns Ultraviolet tee
Today’s make is a new pattern from Paprika Patterns, the Ultraviolet Tee, which I was given as a PR copy. It’s an oversized summer top with drown on sleeves, and can be made in knits or wovens. There are three views, one cropped one with a curved high low hem, one standard length one with a straight hem, and the one I made, standard length with a curved hem and a high split at the side.
See below for details in the usual format
Pattern: Paprika Patterns Ultraviolet Tee, View C. One thing to be aware of before you print: View B is on different pages, so you don’t need to to print the whole document, like I did. Serves me right for not reading the instructions first!
Fabric: An african print wax fabric from my stash I think originally from someone’s destash. It’s not as stiff as usual wax fabric, in fact did not feel waxy at all, but it does say wax on the selvedge. I’m not quite sure how much of this I had, I’d guess about 1.5 metres, and it was the perfect amount. The fabric was narrow too, like wax fabric usually is. So this is a good pattern for using up odds and ends.
Size: I made the size 12-14 which matches my measurements, and the option for cup sizes D-F. Always appreciate when cup sizes are included in the pattern.
The pocket: I’m giving this its own bullet because you wouldn’t even know it was there. I mattern matched properly for literally the first time in my life and now it’s so well matched it just disppears into the fabric. Here’s a photo, even though I just took that I have to look closely to see it. Not really sure how I feel about this, I’ll probably not bother when making in businly patterned fabric again. It would have been nice to have the pocket in a matching plain colour, but I didn’t have anything.
Modifications: I didn’t make any this time. If there’s anything I’m unsure about, it’s the hight of the slit. I’m wearing a vest top here, and I’m not sure how I feel about having the side of my stomach exposed. So I may see if I can lengthen it a bit next time. Or I could redraw the curve, though that seems more work than it’s worth given that I mostly will be wearing it with something underneath anyway.
Will I make another: I’m super happy with this, and I think it will get worn lots on the summer, and I’ve another planned in this awkwardly narrow Donna Wilson fabric i’ve had for ages. I’m also wondering about a tunic length one.
